Johnny Munro retires after 35 years

Johnny has been with the Fire Service for nearly 35 years. When he first joined he started at the Fire Station in the High Street located opposite Sainsbury's Supermarket. In the later years of his service he has been instrumental in setting up the successful Twinning Partnership between Group 9 which comprises of Selkirk, Gala and Lauder, with the Bavarian Fire Service in Plattling.
Johnny's eldest son Scott joined the Selkirk crew approx 5 years ago, keeping the family tradition going, as Johnny's father the late Bert Munro served at Selkirk Fire Station for many years.
Johnny has enjoyed his time serving as the Station Manager, which also involves showing group's such as the Cub Scouts round the Station and the Fire Appliance passing on valuable Fire Safety Messages.
John will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues at the Station, and they all wish him a long and happy retirement.
