Selkirk RFC Prostate Cancer Awareness

15th February 2018
After last Saturdays game at Philiphaugh between Selkirk and Musselburgh, The Selkirk RFC Director of Rugby Ewen Robbie said the club has been exploring new ideas for team and club culture, Ewen has supplied prostate cancer awareness ties to both the Selkirk first and second teams from the Club.
Speaking about the new venture Ewen said I have been looking at ways on how we can evolve our culture at Selkirk RFC and have initiated this, which I'm sure will help and also raise awareness about prostate cancer, something that has affected many people connected to Selkirk Rugby, none more so than Scottish and Selkirk Rugby legend John Rutherford.
It was very fitting that John could make the first presentation of the ties as he is a great example of someone who has put a power of work in for our rugby club as well as having fought prostrate cancer.
The ties will be passed on weekly by the recipients to another teammate who they feel has done something noteworthy for the team or the club.
For us the ties represent respect for the club, the work John and others have done for the club, the chance for players to show appreciation for things done by their teammates and raise awareness for Prostate Cancer.
The First recipient of the 1st team tie was young Prop Robbie Reilly. The First recipient of the 2nd team tie was Mathew Stanners.
